Q: How do you know what kind of math students in your center/re need to be taught?
A: Our comprehensive assessment gives us the information needed to create an individualized learning plan for the student. It identifies the student's strengths and weaknesses, and any learning gaps. The learning plan will support the student through the math challenges that he/she has faced in the past.
Q: Why do students need to take tests?
A: Assessments are used to identify what a student already knows. A test is an instrument used to see what students have learned. There is a difference! Assessments are used to guide learning and learning plans to meet the needs of the student. Tests are used to see what the students retained after a period of time.
Q: Can Mathnasium help students prepare for their tests in math class?
A: The Mathnasium curriculum is designed to assist students at all levels to fill in their learning gaps, and to gain confidence and skills. Many of the students, as a result of going through the learning plan created for them, feel much more confident on their tests at school and give them the confidence to succeed.
Q: What about College Placement Tests?
A: We offer some SAT practice for students, and also offer private tutoring sessions so students can work on their own test preparation materials. Many of our older students have found our curriculum very helpful and worth the time.
