Q1: What are some ways your center is helping students prepare for the school year - whether it’s refreshing core skills, boosting confidence, or tackling new grade-level content?
A: We love this transitional time from summer to back to school! We are reviewing course schedules, and the scope and sequence of math courses. It's nearly impossible to keep that pace, but what we try to do is focus on the prerequisite skills that students will need to do well. Judson switched to Bluebonnet Learning, and SCUC switched to STEMscopes for math, so the teachers will be learning and teaching new curriculum this year. We'll be learning right along with them.
Q2: Can you share a quick success story about a student who feels more ready for school after coming to your center?
A: We've had a few students gain more than two years worth of growth this summer. That's a HUGE confidence boost walking into the new year. We have many kids switching campuses so that confidence boost will go a long way towards a successful year.
Q3: What would you tell parents who are worried their child isn’t ready for math this school year?
A: One thing I would tell a parent is that it is not too late. One of the most frequent comments we get is that they wish they would have started sooner. Plug into our social media @ #mathnasiumofconverse we provide lots of great math tips each month.
