Owner/Center Director
Karen holds a BA in Mathematics from the University of Northern Colorado and an MS in Statistics from Texas A&M University. With over 15 years of teaching experience—including six years in the International Baccalaureate Program—Karen is passionate about helping students understand math in a way that makes sense to them.
Before opening Mathnasium of Holly Springs, she worked as an Actuarial Analyst and Product Manager. Her teaching philosophy aligns perfectly with Mathnasium’s mission, and she’s dedicated to helping every child reach their full potential.
Samantha
Lead Instructor
Samantha is a senior at Creekview High School currently taking AP Calculus BC. She enjoys working with students of all ages and helping them become more confident and efficient in their math skills.
Outside of the classroom, Samantha enjoys reading, singing, and running track. She loves getting to know students and making math fun and approachable for everyone she works with.
Sophia
Lead Instructor
Sophia is a senior at Woodstock High School, where she is taking Multivariable Calculus. She’s passionate about making math enjoyable and accessible for students of all ages.
After graduation, she hopes to attend Vanderbilt University to double major in mathematics and secondary education. Outside of Mathnasium, Sophia plays violin in the Georgia Youth Symphony Orchestra, competes in Speech and Debate, and volunteers in her community.
Travis
Instructor
Travis studied math at Kennesaw State University after graduating from Sequoyah High School, where AP Calculus sparked his passion for the subject. He enjoys helping students connect concepts and improve their mental math and problem-solving skills.
Outside of teaching, Travis is an outdoor enthusiast who loves fishing, kayaking, and working on projects. He also spends time with his three dogs—Jack, Leo, and Luna—who, according to him, are his favorite companions.
Charles
Instructor
Charles is a senior at Creekview High School and currently taking AP Calculus BC. He enjoys helping students reach their potential and loves seeing the different ways they approach math problems.
After graduation, he hopes to attend Georgia Tech to study aerospace engineering. In his free time, Charles enjoys weightlifting, playing lacrosse, and cooking.
Olivia
Instructor
Olivia is a senior at River Ridge High School. The highest math she has taken is AP Precalculus. Olivia loves working with kids of all ages, and helping to develop their understanding of mathematics. She loves answering the "why" questions kids have math, and encouraging them to ask any math questions they have. After high school she plans to be a cryptology technician in the Air Force, as well as getting her masters in computer science at UNG. Outside of school, Olivia enjoys spending time with her cats, Pippin and Frodo, reading books, and doing volunteer work for her community.
Owen
Instructor
Owen is a Senior at Sequoyah High School. This year he’s taking AP statistics after taking AP calculus BC with a 5 on the exam. Owen enjoys helping kids have a better understanding of math and find new ways to solve problems. He hopes to get into UGA for an engineering degree. Outside of school, Owen likes to play soccer with his friends, spend time with family, and learn better ways to solve problems.

Yes! Mathnasium of Hickory Flat offers in-center, online, and hybrid tutoring options which means that students may schedule both in-center and online tutoring sessions for maximum flexibility.
No. Students receive the same personalized learning plans and live, face-to-face instruction in a supportive group environment whether they attend sessions online, in person, or both. Our tutors use the same proven teaching techniques to ensure consistent results in every format.
We work with students in grades K–12 across all major math classes and topics, from early childhood math and arithmetic to Algebra and Geometry. We also offer targeted preparation for standardized exams like the SAT®, ACT®, and more.
We offer math-only tutoring through a flat monthly enrollment fee, along with a one-time start-up fee upon initial enrollment. While month-to-month options are available, families can access discounted rates with longer-term commitments. For optimal progress, most students attend 2–3 sessions per week. Monthly fees are based on various factors, such as student grade level, and length of enrollment.
