Anneli Cahn Lax

Anneli Cahn Lax was born February 23, 1922, in Poland, and lived in New York as a mathematician, editor, and educator. She also worked as a translator, and helped authors write books about mathematics.

Even though Anneli thought of herself as a slow learner, she was known for reforming math education with a focus on language and listening, instead of rules and memorization.

Rubik's Snake - Our New Favorite Puzzle

In 1981, Ernő Rubik, hot on the heels of his 1977 smash-hit the Rubik's Cube, invented and released the Rubik's Snake, a very different kind of puzzle. The Snake consists of 24 isosceles triangular prisms, connected by spring bolts. The prisms can't be separated, but they can be twisted, allowing one to form the snake into many different shapes.
