You and your child have likely become very familiar with virtual learning over the last school year. During the transition to virtual learning due to COVID and even before, Mathnasium has been offering virtual, live math tutoring for our students. As your schedule starts to fill up again this fall, you may be wondering if you will be able to fit dropping your child off for tutoring into your busy schedule. Due to various time commitments, especially for older children, it may be easier for them to receive online instruction (or even a combination of in-center and online instruction) instead of having to physically visit the center a few times per week. With our Mathnasium@home option, your child can continue to receive high qualify instruction without the hassle of a commute. Let's review all the benefits you'll get through our center's Mathnasium@home program and why it can be a great option for your child.
Mathnasium@home is a great option if your child is easily distracted or experiences some anxiety around math. The virtual environment allows your child to learn in a setting they are familiar with, putting them at ease and taking away some of the pressure they may feel with others around. Just like in our center Mathnasium@home allows for one-on-one, face to face tutoring with an expert instructor.
With our virtual instruction your child has the option to receive tutoring on the days and times that work best for your family's schedule. No rushing from work or activities or hurrying through dinner to make your child’s in-center session. It's as simple as booting up the computer and logging in from the comfort of your home, no travel required!
Appointments do need to be scheduled in advance for an online tutoring session to ensure your child will have an available instructor. This can be done easily through our scheduling app. Once you select your preferred date and time, you're all set. Simply have your child sign on at the appointed lesson time.
Mathnasium@home offers the same proven instruction curriculum, just in digital form. And most importantly, it comes with no additional cost, as it's included with the total cost of your child’s program. Your child receives the same math assessment to determine their skills and strengths, with a combination of verbal and written questions to test their knowledge. From this assessment, our instructors create a customized learning plan that your child will review with each virtual lesson.
Your child is likely up to date on the latest technology and just as comfortable with a computer as they are with pen and paper. For each virtual session, your child will access the whiteboard application for their lesson by accessing a link they will bookmark after their first session. They will then be directed to a private breakout room where their instructor will be waiting for them. The instructor will sign your child in and already have the day's lesson material prepared. Student and instructor will be able to see the lesson materials on screen and be able collaborate during the lesson. Students can also review homework with an instructor by emailing us their homework prior to the lesson, allowing the instructor to go over it with them in real time. Once the lesson is over, the instructor signs your child out and notes the lesson material covered during the day’s session.
Mathnasium@home is 100% digital, eliminating the need for your child to have to worry about keeping track of paper worksheets or assignments. Your child’s instructor takes care of all the administrative and sign-on tasks, allowing your child to focus fully on learning during their lesson.
Our Mathnasium@home program allows you and your child to keep track of their progress as they go through each lesson. You can track where your child is excelling and where we are working to improve with your child. They still get a virtual punch card to earn points for future rewards, just as they would if learning in-center. If you have questions or concerns for the instructor or simply like a progress report, you can meet online with your child's instructor directly at the time of the lesson or schedule a time to meet in person or virtually with the center director.
Whether your child needs test preparation assistance or is looking for a challenge over the summer to stay ahead, with Mathnasium@home you'll get the best of both worlds. We offer individualized instruction given by qualified and caring instructors for children in grades 2 through 12. Your child can receive this customized instruction all without leaving their room!
