The Hillsborough County Public School Board held workshops to assess reopening of school options.
In response to Richard Corcoran’s, the Florida Commissioner of Education, emergency order to reopen all schools in fall, the school board outlined three learning options, based on which phase Florida is in.
While the final Reopening Plan has not been approved by the board, here are the options you and your family will have if schools decide to fully open and operate under traditional instructional delivery.
Face-to-Face
Students who want to return to classrooms and directly interact with their teachers and classmates must practice social distancing through controlled movements where possible in classes, hallways, and common areas. Students will be required to wear masks wherever social distancing guidelines cannot be accommodated but will not be mandatory unless state/local executive order is in effect.
To help close the learning gap and reduce the Summer Slide, Mathnasium offers face-to-face sessions and personalized learning plans. For the safety of our instructors and other students, we require all students to wear masks. We also carefully follow CDC guidelines to provide a safe learning environment for your child to soar ahead in math.
eLearning
This option is for families who would like to maintain their connection to their school, but don’t yet feel comfortable sending their children back on campus. Students will enroll full-time through their assigned school and must commit to a minimum of one semester (18 weeks). They will be expected to log in daily for attendance and will receive live and virtual instruction, and independent work.
For families who want the flexibility of learning from home, our new and proven Mathnasium@Home platform allows students to receive the same one-on-one instructor interface with Mathnasium materials as they would receive in the center. Students can work from the comfort of their home, while preparing for the upcoming school year.
Hillsborough Virtual K-12
Families who do not wish to return to school campuses will have the option to enroll in Hillsborough Virtual K-12 by Friday, July 24. Similar to eLearning, students must enroll for a minimum of one semester but will have a self-paced learning experience. Students do not need to follow the same schedule as face-to-face students and will receive credit by course completion. They will have full access to their teachers for each subject though email, phone, instant message, or virtual classroom.
Mathnasium@Home also allows for students to get face-to-face instruction in real time, with the option of returning to the center -- whenever your family is ready. In addition to our Mathnasium Method, we allow time for homework assistance and one-on-one tutoring both In-Center or @Home.
