COVID-19 Updates

Mar 13, 2020 | Mount Airy
At Mathnasium, the well-being of our families is always our first priority. We are keeping up with the latest information on the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and wanted to share our plan as this issue unfolds. Today, Governor Hogan announced that Maryland Schools will closed from March 16th to March 27th. Our center will remain open during these school closures.

We are taking heavy precautions to make sure that our center remains as safe as it possibly can be for students and families, including, but not limited to:
-Teaching students proper hygiene and sanitary practices by having each student clean their work area and their materials with bleach-based disinfectant wipes, as well as reinforcing proper hand-washing technique. We encourage you to do this with your children, as well.
-Easing student fears by assuring them that as long as we work together and practice proper sanitation techniques, they will be safe.
-Providing hand sanitizer on every work table of at least 60% alcohol concentration.
-Sanitizing all work surfaces daily with a bleach solution and aerosol disinfectant.
-Requiring employees and students who show signs of illness to stay home.
-Using industrial grade aerosol disinfectant spray throughout the center each night.

Because we have much lower traffic than a school, do not share many of the high-risk transmission factors (crowded hallways, cafeterias, etc.), and have much lower square footage than a school, we have much more control over our space. We believe that as long as we all work together to protect ourselves and each other during this time, we are fully prepared to continue lessons for all of our students.

In addition, in requiring students who are showing signs of illness to stay home, we will not hesitate to send your student home if they are sick. If your child has symptoms, please wait until they've subsided before coming back to the center. If you are concerned about the value you will be getting from the program if your child is sick, please contact us directly by phone or email.

Please reach out to our center at any time if you have any concerns that we can address.
