Summer Fun Lessons
We are gearing up for an awesome summer and to help all of our students beat the Summer Slide, we are introducing something a little extra: Summer FUN! Lessons!
Greetings Mathnasium Family!
As many of you know, effective July 1st, 2021, Governor Hogan will end the State of Emergency that enacted many of the COVID-19-related mandates we have experienced up to this point. Health experts are also indicating that fully vaccinated individuals may not need to wear a mask at all times. While this is a welcome relief, health experts and the CDC are still recommending that individuals over the age of 2 continue to wear masks in public settings.
Because we work with children who cannot be vaccinated, they would still be required to wear masks. In order to maintain the safest environment possible for all of our staff and students, as well as to demonstrate equity for all of our young minds, we will continue to require masks for anyone who enters the building. We will maintain this policy until such time that health experts and the CDC provide guidance that it is safe for all individuals to be without a mask indoors. We will have masks available for anyone who forgets theirs.
In addition, we will be removing the plexiglass barriers on student tables.
Our updated COVID-19 protocols are as follows:
All students and staff have their temperature taken at the door.
All students and staff must pass a 9 question health screen in addition to their temperature check. Anyone failing any part of the health screen will not be allowed to attend.
No more than 1 family is allowed in the lobby at a time.
Parents may not wait for their students inside the lobby, they must wait outside.
Capacity is limited to 25 maximum at all times (including staff), with two additional spaces reserved for assessments if necessary. This is below 50% of our maximum operating capacity.
All students and staff must wash their hands for at least 20 seconds (with soap) immediately upon entering the center.
Students are seated a minimum of 6 feet apart.
Instruction is face-to-face between instructor and student.
Chairs, desks, and possibly-touched parts of the plexiglass are cleaned with a bleach solution between students.
All utensils are individually assigned to each student. No utensils are shared, even between instructor and student.
All utensils, instructional tools, and games are cleaned with a bleach solution between uses.
No porous materials are used except to clean.
Frequently-touched surfaces (such as door handles) are cleaned with a bleach solution daily.
Key areas of bathrooms are cleaned with a bleach solution after each use.
Air Conditioning or heating is left on 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
We replaced our air filter in December, well ahead of schedule, to ensure it is capable of consistently filtering particles that can carry COVID.
The center is ventilated frequently by opening one or more doors to create air flow to disrupt any lingering particles.
We look forward to continuing to provide a safe environment for our Mathnasium Family and we look forward to seeing you again soon!
Sincerely,
The Team at Mathnasium of Mount Airy
