Mathnasium of New Tampa wants to introduce you to our Owner, Julie Williamson

Q: Why did you choose to own a Mathnasium center? A: I bought Mathnasium of New Tampa in 2007 from a previous owner that opened it in 2006. I loved that in the short time the center was open, it was already making a huge difference in the lives of the students. I loved the positive impact, the educational materials, and the business model, so when we had the opportunity to buy the center it was a no-brainer.

Q: What do you like about the city your Mathnasium center is located in? A: I love the diversity. Meeting new people every day that are originally from different cities, states, countries, and continents gives me wonderful insight on places I haven't been able to travel to yet. And with that, I am grateful for all of the talent, expertise, businesses, and yummy food they bring to the New Tampa area!

Q: Can you think of any way that your center has positively impacted the community that it’s located in? A: We love becoming business partners with the local schools and helping them any way we can. Whether they need scholarships, additional funds, supplies, help with events, or a way to thank teachers, we are here to help!

Q: Did you like math when you were in grade school? A: Not really! It wasn't until I got a little older when I had some wonderful math teachers who truly started helping me pull all of the pieces together. I hope that Mathnasium can make a similar lifelong positive change for our students.

Q: What do you think you would have liked most about Mathnasium if you had attended when you were in grade school? A: I would have really like the safe space and judgement-free zone that our wonderful instructors provide. I would have also liked the rewards!

Q: One last question, what’s something fun you enjoy doing in New Tampa? A: I love going to our museums (the Dali museum is incredible!), going to magic or comedy shows, going to the Tampa Theater, or just having a casual afternoon playing board games with friends.
