Q: Do you remember what drew you to apply for a Mathnasium instructor position?
A: It was nearing the end of summer, and I was seeking a job where I could have a positive impact on my community. I was scrolling through job-finding sites when Mathnasium caught my eye. It was the perfect place where I could use my education to help people who needed it and frame topics they struggle with in a fun and understandable way.
Q: How did the position impact you?
A: While working at Mathnasium, I was able to make great connections with both staff and students. I learned how to teach in new ways and how to know when you need to change your methods. Also, seeing a student breeze through a problem sheet that they were just struggling with always puts a smile on your face.
Q: What was your favorite thing about the Mathnasium Method?
A: My favorite part of the Mathnasium Method is the idea of team teaching. Everyone views a problem in a unique way, and sometimes it just takes a fresh perspective for a topic to click. In my experience having access to several different instructors helps the students substantially.
Q: So, Where are you now?
A: I am currently in my first quarter at the University of California Santa Barbara. I am studying Computer Engineering and my current project is a mechanical prosthetic hand, which is very exciting. I spend most of my free time with friends or at the gym.
