Q: What is the first thing a brand new student does at your center?
A: Decorate their binder spine
Q: What is the comprehensive assessment? How long does it take to finish?
A: Most students take about 90 minutes to do their assessment. This includes a short tour of our center, a conversation with them and their parent, verbal questions and finally the written assessment. The written assessment allows us to pinpoint exactly where students are in their math skills - what is working well for them, and what areas and topics they could use extra support. We create their customized curriculum based on their assessment results. We cover only the areas they need to learn and skip the areas they already know.
Q: How often should I bring my student to Mathnasium of Parker?
A: We find that twice a week is ideal for most students.
Q: Who are the people teaching my child?
A: We have a wide range of people who work at Mathnasium, varying from outstanding high school students to retired teachers. The things they have in common are that they are all exceptional in math and can explain it to our students in ways that make sense to them! We have several instructors that have been with us for five or more years.
Q: When can I bring my child into Mathnasium of Parker?
A: We are open 6 days a week! Parents can easily schedule their child's sessions for times that are convenient for them, whether that be evenings or weekends. We are open every weekday after school until 7 and Saturday mornings.
Q: How do you motivate your students at Mathnasium of Parker?
A: Students are intrinsically motivated by having success in their sessions each day. Our founder, Larry Martinek, says ""Learning is fun and not learning is not fun."" We couldn't agree more! We find that when students are learning, they are engaged and leave their sessions happy. In addition, we have a great reward system in that students can earn items, ranging from a box of candy all the way up to a Nintendo Switch! We have a brag board that displays students school work or photos of outside activities that they are proud of. We also have monthly fun days and contests.
