Barry brings decades of leadership experience from the film industry to Mathnasium. A former Senior Vice President at Sony, he is also a published textbook author and a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
He holds a B.A. from Northwestern University and an M.A. from USC's School of Cinematic Arts. Barry co-owns the center with his wife, Lorye, and is passionate about building confidence through math education. He previously served on Mathnasium’s Franchise Advisory Council and led a top K–8 school board in Los Angeles.
Lorye is a MASTER CERTIFIED Mathnasium instructor and co-owner of the center. She specializes in early learning programs and parent engagement, offering warm, hands-on support to families.
A UCLA graduate and Sherman Oaks native, Lorye began her career as a preschool teacher. She’s also a published chef and proud mom of four boys, each tutored by Larry Martinek before the Mathnasium Method was created. Known for her passion and creativity, Lorye brings energy, community spirit, and a love of learning to every interaction at the center.
Our instructor team is passionate about teaching and thoroughly trained in the Mathnasium Method™. Each instructor completes rigorous onboarding, including background checks, teaching evaluations, and continuous development.
Many team members are Honors or AP students or attend local universities like CSUN and UCLA. With enthusiasm and expertise, they work closely with students to make math fun, understandable, and confidence-building.
