Q: Tell us why you enrolled your child at Mathnasium?

A: As a military family, we’ve moved multiple times, resulting in little continuity between school curriculums. At one school, our child has been ahead of their peers; the next, behind. Currently we are behind, and this resulted in frustration. Mathnasium has provided the opportunity to get caught up, in a supportive and nurturing environment. - MR

Q: What changes have you noticed in your child since enrolling them at Mathnasium?

A: Our child has gained loads of confidence and is truly excited to tackle math. She loves the set up; staying organized through the use of a personalized binder with a Mathnasium plan tailored for her. If she’s not bringing in homework to tackle, she’s excited to work towards her goals of mastering different skills. I’ve noticed a more independent approach to tackle her math homework and less stress before math quizzes at school. She’s approaching math with an exuberance we wish we had when we were younger. -MR

Q: What difference have you seen in your child’s grades or test scores?

A: My child had struggled in math for years. His lack of skills had been pushed under the carpet until middle school when he failed. He needed remedial skills and confidence. Since enrolling, my child passes math classes, and has confidence that he can learn math. - MD

Q: Did you like doing math homework with your student? Do the instructors at Mathnasium help your child with homework now?

A: We enjoy watching our daughter work through her math homework, but helping is another matter. Our math skills aren’t as sharp as they once were, and methods for learning have evolved over time. We sometimes have to learn the techniques our daughter is using before we can try to help, as we don’t want to “muddy the waters.” We have loved having Mathnasium because the instructors there are experts and have the recency of exposure to the newer methods, so it’s a wonderful place to accomplish math homework. The instructors help when she needs, and additionally, they have communicated with her school math teacher to make sure their efforts are synergistic with the lessons from school. Finally, in a neutral (but fun) setting away from our desk, I feel our child has the ability to focus better on the task at hand. The environment at Mathnasium is entirely math-focused, with minimal distractions, and the perfect place for her to grow. - MR
