Mathnasium of St. George's personalized geometry tutoring programs are designed to support students at every stage of their math journey.
We can introduce and guide middle school students through foundational concepts like angles, shapes, congruence, and basic measurement, building the spatial reasoning and logical thinking skills needed for high school geometry.
Our tutors follow personalized learning plans to help students master high-school-level geometry topics—triangles, circles, proofs, transformations, and the Pythagorean theorem. We make abstract concepts clear and manageable.
Honors students and competition participants can receive targeted support for challenging topics like advanced proofs, coordinate geometry, and complex problem-solving strategies that prepare them for college-level coursework and math competitions.
Our specially trained math tutors support students of all skill levels excel in geometry, whether they’re just starting out with basic geometric principles like lines and intersections, or working through complex theorems and coordinate geometry.
We provide personalized instruction in an engaging and empowering environment, guiding students step by step through the concepts they need to master and building their confidence in the subject.
At Mathnasium, we use the Mathnasium Method™, our proprietary teaching approach based on personalized learning plans and interactive teaching techniques. This proven approach is designed to make even the most abstract geometric concepts easy to understand and apply to everyday concepts.
We build upon what students already know, strengthening foundational skills and introducing geometry concepts in sequence, so they can truly understand and even enjoy the subject.
Each student begins with a diagnostic assessment where we identify their current skill level, detect any gaps in understanding, and map out their learning goals. Using these insights, we create a personalized learning plan that guides them toward mastery of geometry.
Our tutors follow each student’s personalized learning plan while using proven, interactive teaching techniques. That way, students build a deep understanding of all important geometry concepts, including angles, transformations, congruence, and similarity.

Chris McMillan
Assistant Center Director
I’ve completed College Algebra I and II, Trigonometry, Calculus I, II, and III, Physics, and Discrete Mathematics. This upcoming fall semester, I’ll be taking Probability and Statistics, Linear Algebra, History of Mathematics, and Numerical Methods. I am a highly certified welder with a strong background in both academics and hands-on experience. I hold an ASE certification in suspension systems as a mechanic and have won several school welding competitions, including a state championship my senior year and a 2nd place finish at nationals. Outside the shop, I played football at the collegiate level and earned All-State and First Team All-Conference honors during both my junior and senior years of high school. I also wrestled my freshman year and placed 3rd at the state tournament. Since 2018, I’ve been rebuilding a 1957 Chevy 3100 truck. I’m also passionate about hunting and was a member of a competitive trap and skeet shooting team. On the side, I’ve competed and won in spikeball tournaments as well as having an advanced scoops diving certification. Academically, I scored a 1410 on the SAT with a perfect score in the math section and graduated high school with a 3.8 GPA. For the past two years, I’ve interned at an aerospace engineering company, where I hope to work full-time after graduation. I absolutely love to weld and tinker—whether it’s working on cars or tearing apart any motor I can get my hands on. I’ve fully rebuilt around four engines and have taken each one apart multiple times, always learning something new in the process. Beyond the garage, I’m passionate about sports like football, spikeball, soccer, golf, and many others. And above all, being outside is a necessity for me—it’s where I feel most alive.
Fun Fact: I owned two turtles named TJ and Oogway, my family owns three dogs, and we have two coy fish, 10 goldfish, and one plecko that live in a 1500 gallon outdoor pond.
Favorite Number, Why?: 57 is my favorite number because I see it everywhere—for no apparent reason. It’s a prime number, only divisible by one and itself, which already makes it unique. But what really stands out is how often it appears in my life: on clocks when I check the time, in song durations, and even randomly throughout the day. Coincidentally (or maybe not), my truck was made in 1957, and my favorite era of cars across all manufacturers is also from that same year. There’s just something about 57 that keeps showing up—and I’ve learned to love it.
Education: I go to school at Utah Tech and I will graduate with my bachelors degree in 2028. I went to highschool in Colorado, and my major is Scientific applied mathematics which is very similar to an aerospace engineering degree, only more math focused.
Why I like Mathnasium: When I was in eighth grade, I had a substitute teacher in my band class who knew nothing about conducting or music—but he knew a lot about math. Over the course of two days, he passionately explained the Fibonacci sequence and its surprising beauty. He even showed how the sequence ties into music, but more importantly, he revealed to me that math is more than just numbers, variables, and equations. He helped me see the brilliance in even the simplest patterns and how mathematics is embedded in nature itself. From that moment on, math became easier for me—and more than that, it became fun. I started to enjoy math, to seek it out beyond the classroom. What used to be a subject I disliked turned into something I genuinely loved. That one teacher completely changed how I viewed math. I chose to work at Mathnasium because I want to do the same for someone else. If I can inspire a student to see math the way he helped me see it—to find joy and wonder in it—then I know I’m doing something meaningful. Mathnasium is the perfect place for me to share that passion.
Abbey Petersen
Instructor
I have taken Geometry, Pre-calc, Calc 1, and Calc 3. In high school, I was on the cross country, track and dive teams and I was able to run a marathon with some of my family. During my junior and senior years of high school, I tutored math and science. I love being outside, whether it be playing pickle ball, volleyball, or hiking. I also love country dancing and spontaneous dance parties.
Fun Fact: I'm a twin!
Favorite Number, why: My favorite number is 4. I've just always liked it.
Education: I'm a senior at SUU and I plan on graduating in chemistry with a math minor.
Why I love Mathnasium: In junior high and some of high school, I struggled with math. My senior year of high school, I had an incredible teacher that loved math and made it fun. I have loved learning how to love math and want to help others love math too. I also love helping others have "ah-ha" moments with math clicks.

Working with students who are struggling with geometry, our goal is to transform how they think and feel about the subject by building both their skills and confidence. We expand on what students already know, break down complex concepts into manageable steps, and guide them forward at a pace that works for them.
Geometry also shows up in more places than students expect, from the angles in a football throw to the measurements on a playing field, and helping students see those connections often makes the concepts click in a new way.
