Q: How do you know what kind of math students in your center/re need to be taught?

A:
Every student takes an assessment when they first start with Mathnasium. We discuss and go over different math concepts, and determine where they are comfortable with math. The assessment will then pinpoint areas that students are proficient and the ones they need to review. These concepts are then added and sorted into a personalized learning plan for that student.

Q: Why do students need to take tests?

A:
It's important to see what students can do independently. Mastery Checks determine if the student understands the concept well enough to build on it. We assess the students regularly to see how well their skills are progressing so they can build critical thinking skills.

Q: Can Mathnasium help students prepare for their tests in math class?

A:
Mathnasium sets aside time every session for schoolwork. Students can bring in homework, study guides, or notes to go over with instructors. In addition to working on filling their math gaps and reviewing concepts, we support our students with their schoolwork too. We've supported numerous students through their classes and pass their finals with better grades than they ever thought they'd earn!

Q: What about College Placement Tests?

A:
Mathnasium has an entire program outlined for students prepping for the ACT and SAT. Our assessment outlines the concepts covered on the college test to give students a better understanding of what to expect. Breaking down the concepts and helping out students have definitely helped boost their confidence!
