1. Our favorite “aha!” moment with a student.

A: A student was learning multiplication facts, and we were working on 12s. When we got to the pages explaining to think in 10s, they were shocked. 10x7 + 2x7 works? It's more than just memorization?" We explained how this works with all numbers.

2. A time when a student earned a reward.

A: A student was trying to earn enough stamp cards to buy a camping chair. She was working so hard to get through her pages and understand the concepts so she could get the chair before someone else. After two weeks, she finally had enough cards! She was so excited to take that chair home, and it was great to see her working so hard to earn those stamps.

3. Positive parent experience.

A: On a care call with a parent, they were trying to understand the progress check results for their student. After going through the results and what each section meant, they were shocked at how much progress their student had made in only a few months at Mathnasium.

4. Favorite ways to teach concepts.

A: One of my favorite ways to teach concepts is to draw a picture. A lot of concepts make more sense when they can be seen, like fractions and integers.

5. A time when a student scored well on a test.

A: A student brought in her unit study guide every day for a week. We went over all of the questions and made up similar problems for her to practice. She came in the following week and said that she was one of the only kids in her class to get an A on the test! It was amazing to see how happy she was after working so hard.
