1. What is the most common thing you see in new students coming to Mathnasium for the first time?

A: Upon their initial arrival, students often hold a negative perception of math, feeling discouraged and overwhelmed by the subject, which can lead them to believe they are not capable. However, they are pleasantly surprised when they undergo our assessment process, discovering that math can be enjoyable and more comprehensible with effective instruction.

2. If there was one thing you could tell parents before they bring their student to Mathnasium what would it be?

A: Many parents express a desire to have started their child's Mathnasium journey earlier, particularly when they initially noticed challenges with math, struggles with homework, and difficulties during tests. I highly recommend parents to prioritize helping their child memorize multiplication facts as well.

3. What things do the most successful students have in common?

A: The students who achieve the greatest success at Mathnasium are those who attend the center 2 times a week, demonstrate a strong work ethic during their sessions, and actively seek clarification when they encounter difficulties. These students also earn a substantial number of cards and quickly accumulate prizes as a result.

4. What are some of the ways you teach math to your students?

A: We incorporate a variety of manipulatives in our math instruction. For instance, we utilize real coins during money counting activities to provide practical experience since many children nowadays have limited exposure to physical currency. Additionally, fraction tiles serve as valuable manipulatives for helping students order and compare fractions.
