What is the Summer Slide and How Can Mathnasium Help?

With Covid-19 out of our minds, many families are planning vacations for the summer and getting back to their normal summer activities. Students will be out of school starting in June, and will return in August, meaning students get two months off from school. Though it is important to have fun over the summer, it is important to continuously stimulate the brain to prevent what is called the Summer Slide.

The Covid-19 Pandemic caused a significant regression in academic performance. Thankfully, school has been back in session and students have received their traditional instruction. Now that summer is approaching, school will be out for two months and can cause some students to slide down in reading and math performance. At Mathnasium, we can prevent that from happening.

Mathnasium offers summer programs along with our usual Mathnasium Memberships. Students can come once, twice, three times, or even four times per week to keep their math skills sharp. Each student is taught lessons based on their specific math needs, which are determined with a complimentary math skills assessment. If they're behind, we can help catch them up! If they're at grade level, we can challenge them and help them retain important concepts from the previous year, and prepare them for the next grade level! If they're above grade level, we can challenge them with advanced materials and workout books! Mathnasium has a plan for every student to succeed, build confidence, and have fun in math!
