At Mathnasium of West Houston, we believe the best exam preparation comes from building deep math understanding and mastery over time, not from cramming before every test.
Students begin with a free diagnostic assessment that helps us pinpoint their current skills and any knowledge gaps. From there, we create a personalized learning plan that strengthens math skills consistently, session by session.
Our specially trained tutors work with students across any K-12 math class, from elementary math through Precalculus and beyond, reinforcing what students are learning in school, filling in foundational gaps including numerical fluency and computation, and developing the problem-solving skills that carry them through quizzes, midterms, and finals.
When a major exam is on the horizon, we can shift instruction to align with the specific topics and concepts it covers, so students walk in feeling ready.
Yes! Mathnasium of West Houston prepares students for the math portions of the STAAR assessment.
Our tutors can align instruction with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) to make sure students have a solid understanding of the grade-level concepts they'll encounter on the exam. We use the diagnostic assessment to identify each student's gaps and build a personalized learning plan targeting the skills they need to meet and exceed grade-level expectations.
The earlier, the better. The STAAR assessment measures cumulative math understanding built throughout the school year, so students benefit far more from consistent, ongoing support than from last-minute review.
Ideally, students should begin working with us at the start of the school year or semester. This gives us time to identify and close knowledge gaps, strengthen foundational skills, and make sure students are progressing steadily toward grade-level mastery well before test day.
That said, if your student is closer to the exam, we can still make a meaningful difference. Contact us and we'll put together a focused plan based on the time available.
Yes! Mathnasium of West Houston prepares high school students for the math sections of the SAT®, PSAT®, and ACT®.
Our specially trained tutors use proprietary test prep materials and personalized learning plans to build the content knowledge and problem-solving strategies students need to perform their best on test day. Whether your student is taking the exam for the first time or working to improve their score, we tailor preparation to their current skill level and target goals.
We recommend starting at least three to six months before the exam date, and earlier is always better.
College admissions math tests cover a wide range of topics, from algebra and data analysis to geometry and, on the ACT®, trigonometry. Students who begin preparation early have time to identify and close knowledge gaps, build fluency with exam-style problems, and develop the confidence that comes from sustained practice.
For students with significant gaps in foundational math skills, starting even earlier, in middle school or early high school, gives them the best possible foundation heading into test prep.
If your student's test date is coming up sooner, contact us and we'll build a focused plan around the time they have.
Mathnasium of West Houston offers math test prep as part of a flat monthly membership fee. Pricing depends on your student's individual plan and session schedule.
For specific pricing information, please reach out to our center directly at (346) 201-5200 or [email protected]. We're happy to walk you through the options and find a plan that fits your students' goals and your family's needs.
The number of sessions depends on your student's current skill level, the exam they're preparing for, and how much time is available before the test day.
As a general guide, most students preparing for a major exam such as the SAT®, PSAT®, or ACT® attend two sessions per week over three to six months. For state assessments or classroom exams, the timeline may be shorter depending on the student's starting point and goals.
After the diagnostic assessment, we'll have a clear picture of what your student needs and can recommend a session schedule that gives them the best chance of success.
Yes! Students can join live, face-to-face online sessions with our specially trained tutors in West Houston and follow the same personalized learning plan as they would in the center.
Not at all. Your child gets the same quality of instruction either way.
Our tutors deliver live, face-to-face sessions and follow each student's personalized learning plan whether the session happens in our center or online. Plenty of families find that alternating between the two works well when schedules get busy or an exam is approaching.
Yes. Our tutors understand the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for Mathematics and the expectations of local schools throughout West Houston and surrounding communities.
