Yes, whenever I meet people – for example in business luncheons – and I tell them what my business is, 9 times out of ten their reactions are “I don’t like math” or “I’m not a math person”. This mindset subconsciously could be picked-up by your children and they might think they don’t have a chance because you did not pass on a math mind.
The belief that math is hard is a myth that is universally held and patently false. Please believe that everyone has the math gene. Just like a growing child, the development of a child’s math ability is just like a natural outgrowth in the human race. How we – as a parent – nurture it plays a very important role.
