Q: Tell us why you enrolled your child at Mathnasium?
A: I simply didn't understand how to help with homework, and it became a nightly battle! I kept asking for notes or a textbook to help guide me, and my daughter has neither. Then, her beginning-of-the-year testing showed she was behind in math too, and that's when I knew I needed help.
Q: What changes have you noticed in your child since enrolling them at Mathnasium?
A: Thankfully, the biggest change is that homework is no longer a battle I have to fight! She's pretty far behind, so math grades haven't changed a ton, but her confidence sure has. She is turning in her classwork on time (most days) and likes the help she is getting at the center. The instructors provide her notes from the session so when she comes home to finish the homework, she knows how to do it, and sometimes they even get homework finished there.
Q: What difference have you seen in your child’s grades or test scores?
A: Her grades are better because she's turning in her work. Those zeroes were killing her grade in math. We will know more when middle-of-the-year testing happens. We just started so I know this will take some time.
Q: Did you like doing math homework with your student? Do the instructors at Mathnasium help your child with homework now?
A: My husband and I would take turns because we both dreaded it. Both of us were pretty good at math, but we haven't done math like this in a very long time. YouTube is helpful, but it didn't always help with the exact problem she was trying to work. At some point, she would tell us her teacher didn't do it that way. Now, she gets most of her homework done at the center. When she doesn't get it all finished at the center, she typically has notes from the instructors and can finish it by herself. We are so thankful because some nights simply used to be terrible. Now, that has changed with Mathnasium!
