Summer Success at Mathnasium of Converse: How We Make Learning Fun and Inspiring

Q1: How does your center keep math learning fun during the summer months?

A: At Mathnasium of Converse, we make summer math learning fun by incorporating engaging daily activities during homework time like 7Ate9, Even Stephens Odd and UNO. To keep students excited and motivated we celebrate two national food days a month like donut day (June 6). That adds extra fun while encouraging kids to solve math problems. The daily games allow kids to earn extra stars after each mastery check. This month, we are doing bowling.

Q2: Share a recent success story from your center-could be a student who’s overcome a challenge, earned a reward, or showed great progress!

A: We recently had an adult learner that came in with an ASVAB score of 13. We worked with her for several months and she ended with a 41, and is now enlisted in the army as an Automatic Logistics Specialist with a great future ahead of her!

Q3: Why is summer learning important for your students, and how does Mathnasium help prevent the summer slide?

A: Summer learning is essential for our students. It is the only time where school is on hold but learning keeps happening here. Consistent practice helps prevent summer slide by keeping math fresh and relevant. At Mathnasium of Converse, students have the opportunity to get ahead of their peers by working hard over the summer to advance their math skills.

Q4: What’s one thing you love about your students and families at your center?

A: Our parents and the Converse community are so supportive. We are almost at 100 Google reviews, we get lots of referrals from families that use our service, we always have a great turn out for game night, and both parents and students are always eager to donate when we have food drives and school donation drop offs.
