We align instruction with New Jersey Student Learning Standards for Mathematics to prepare students for the math portions of the New Jersey Student Learning Assessment (NJSLA). By identifying each student's knowledge gaps and building understanding level by level, we help students approach their state assessment with the skills and confidence needed to meet and exceed grade-level expectations.
Our specially trained tutors prepare high school students for the math sections of the SAT®, PSAT®, and ACT® using proprietary test prep materials and personalized learning plans. We focus on building lasting content knowledge and exam-ready problem-solving strategies, so students see real score improvement on test day and beyond.
At Mathnasium of Jersey City, our specially trained math tutors help K-12 students prepare for any math exam, from classroom quizzes and state assessments to college admissions tests like the SAT®, PSAT®, and ACT®.
We work with students in a caring and fun group environment, providing personalized, face-to-face instruction that focuses on genuine understanding. Our tutors pinpoint each student's knowledge gaps, introduce concepts in a logical sequence, and guide them steadily forward so they feel prepared and capable when exam day arrives.
We use the Mathnasium Method™, our proprietary teaching approach that combines assessment-based personalized learning plans with proven interactive techniques to build the mathematical understanding students need to perform well on any exam.
Rather than drilling test-taking tactics, our tutors help students truly grasp the concepts they'll be tested on. Paired with proprietary test prep materials, this approach develops the problem-solving skills and confidence that lead to meaningful, lasting improvement.
Students begin their Mathnasium journey with a diagnostic assessment that helps us pinpoint their current skill level, knowledge gaps, and exam goals. Using these insights, we design a personalized learning plan that targets exactly what each student needs to work on.
Tutors follow each plan closely, reinforcing understanding and introducing new material gradually. As students build skills and fill knowledge gaps, their confidence grows alongside their readiness, so they arrive at their exam prepared to do their best.

At Mathnasium of Jersey City, we focus on building deep math understanding over time, so students aren't cramming at the last minute before each test.
Every student begins with a diagnostic assessment that helps us identify their current skills and any knowledge gaps. From there, our specially trained tutors follow a personalized learning plan during every session, reinforcing what students are learning in school, closing foundational gaps, and strengthening the problem-solving skills that serve them throughout the year.
Our tutors work with students across any K-12 math class, from elementary math through Precalculus and beyond. As a major exam approaches, we can align instruction with the specific topics and concepts it will cover, so students arrive feeling prepared.
Absolutely! Mathnasium of Jersey City helps students prepare for the math sections of the NJSLA by aligning instruction with the New Jersey Student Learning Standards for Mathematics and each student's individual needs.
The process begins with a diagnostic assessment to pinpoint gaps in understanding. From there, we create a personalized learning plan that targets the skills students need to meet and exceed grade-level expectations.
The sooner, the better. Because the NJSLA measures the math skills students develop over the course of the school year, consistent preparation throughout the year is far more effective than a rushed approach before the test.
We encourage families to reach out at the start of the school year so we have time to address any foundational gaps and build grade-level skills. If your student's exam is approaching sooner, contact us and we'll develop a focused plan around the time available.
Yes! Mathnasium of Jersey City prepares high school students for the math sections of the SAT®, PSAT®, and ACT®.
Our specially trained tutors use proprietary test prep materials and personalized learning plans to build the content knowledge and problem-solving strategies students need to perform their best on test day. Whether your student is preparing for the first time or working to improve a previous result, we tailor preparation to their current skill level and target goals.
We recommend starting at least three to six months before the exam date, and earlier is always better.
College admissions math tests cover a wide range of topics, from algebra and data analysis to geometry and, on the ACT®, trigonometry. Students who begin preparation early have time to identify and close knowledge gaps, build fluency with exam-style problems, and develop the confidence that comes from sustained practice.
For students with significant gaps in foundational math skills, starting even earlier, in middle school or early high school, gives them the strongest possible foundation heading into test prep. If your student's test date is approaching sooner, contact us and we'll build a focused plan around the time they have.
Math test prep at Mathnasium of Jersey City is offered as part of a flat monthly membership fee. Pricing depends on your student's individual learning plan and session schedule.
For specific pricing information, please contact our center directly. We're happy to walk you through the options and find a plan that fits your student's goals and your family's needs.
Each student comes in at a different place, so the session count varies based on current skill level, the target exam, and how much time remains before test day.
As a general guideline, students preparing for the SAT®, PSAT®, or ACT® typically attend two sessions per week over a period of three to six months. For state assessments or school-based exams, a shorter timeline may be sufficient depending on each student's needs.
Once we complete the diagnostic assessment, we'll recommend a session schedule tailored to your student's goals and the time they have available.
Yes! Students who prefer to learn from home can join live, face-to-face online sessions with our specially trained Jersey City tutors and follow the same personalized learning plan as they would in the center.
No, there is no difference. Whether your student attends in center or online, they follow the same personalized learning plan and receive the same live, face-to-face instruction from our specially trained tutors.
Many families find that mixing in-center and online sessions gives them the flexibility they need around busy schedules and upcoming exam dates.
