Q: How do you know what kind of math students in your center/re need to be taught?
A: Here at Mathnasium, we have various tools to identify any specific concepts that math students need to master. We first utilize a verbal checkup to allow us to better select the proper assessment students should take based upon where they are at that point in time. Once students take their assessment, we are able to develop specific and customized results and learning plans of concepts that students need to go over, in order to obtain mastery, develop math confidence, and build a strong math foundation.
Q: Why do students need to take tests?
A: Students need to take tests to ensure they are working on the specific things they need to be working on, as well as, to check for any concepts that students may not have seen for "x" amount of time that they have not retained. One of our recent students took an assessment, and we discovered that they had not remembered how to add fractions. As a result, this student worked on mastering their fraction skills so that they no longer have struggles when they are solving linear equations with fractional answers in their Algebra course!
Q: Can Mathnasium help students prepare for their tests in math class?
A: Absolutely! Students further build their math skills and prepare for tests, not only through mastering their specific gaps by completing the material in their Mathnasium curriculum, but also by using a portion of every session to ask questions and work on their math homework and/or math study guides.
Q: What about College Placement Tests?
A: Mathnasium helps students master their math skills to help prevent any future troubles as they advance in their education. By having a solid math foundation, once students start prepping or taking college placement tests, they will have that background knowledge of concepts they may not have seen in a long time (due to putting in the work, mastering their concepts and working hard to fill in any gaps from previous years). Once it comes close to the time to take those college placement tests in high school. Mathnasium also has SAT/ACT prep that students can utilize to further prepare, in addition to, mastering any grade level gaps they may have.
