Mathnasium of Redwood City wants to introduce you to our Owner, Beatrice Chan, Owner

Q: Why did you choose to own a Mathnasium center? A: There was a significant need in our community for math help - understanding core concepts just wasn't there. I wanted to disrupt the way math was taught in our schools and equip our children with confidence and arm them with knowledge so that they could approach these fundamentals in a way that made sense to them.

Q: What do you like about the city your Mathnasium center is located in? A: It's where I'm raising my family and I'm a part of the community! Redwood City residents are hard working, understand the value of their money, and are dedicated to their families. We see this with their commitment to our program. Redwood City also has everything a family could ask for - wonderful parks, a vibrant downtown and is located centrally to every major store needed. We are proud to be a part of this community!

Q: Can you think of any way that your center has positively impacted the community that it’s located in? A: We helped thousands of children succeed in math by approaching concepts not from a memorization standpoint but from a core concept understanding. Mathnasium of Redwood City offers families the opportunity to attend by providing generous scholarships to families in need as well as participating in school fundraisers.

Q: Did you like math when you were in grade school? A: I liked math when I understood it. When I didn't understand it, I was confused, and a dislike for math followed. However, I was blessed to have teachers who took the time out to explain concepts to me so that I could understand better. They were my Mathnasium!

Q: What do you think you would have liked most about Mathnasium if you had attended when you were in grade school? A: I would have liked the friendships I got to build, the prizes that were offered and overall the general feeling of understanding. Math wouldn't be intimidating anymore - and that confidence built is absolutely priceless!

Q: One last question, what’s something fun you enjoy doing in Redwood City? A: We often go downtown and enjoy the restaurants and all the new shops that are opening up again. We hike at Edgewood Park often and enjoy all of the parks.
