Ola Shuman
Owner/Centre Director
Ola is passionate about helping children thrive academically and personally by building strong math foundations. As the owner of two Mathnasium centres in Ottawa, she is dedicated to empowering students with confidence and a love of learning.
With 14 years of experience teaching math and music, plus a background in education and HR, Ola brings creativity, structure, and care to every student’s journey. Outside of Mathnasium, she enjoys playing the piano and exploring her love of music.
Yusuf
Bilingual Assistant Centre Director
Yusuf is pursuing a Bachelor’s in Software Engineering at Carleton University and brings his teaching experience as a swim instructor, lifeguard, and volunteer tutor to Mathnasium.
He believes in making learning fun and engaging by using visual aids and adapting his approach to each student’s needs. Yusuf enjoys connecting with kids and helping them see math as something they can truly enjoy and succeed in.
Riley
Assistant Centre Director
Riley is earning a Bachelor of Mathematics in Statistics with a minor in Psychology at Carleton University. Passionate about sports analytics and problem-solving, he brings curiosity and enthusiasm to every lesson.
He has volunteered as a youth soccer coach and plays competitively as a goalie. Outside of work, Riley enjoys playing field hockey, reading, and gaming.
Philippe
Lead Instructor
Philippe holds a Bachelor’s degree in Statistics and Computer Science from the University of Ottawa and has seven years of tutoring experience.
He enjoys sharing his love for math and science and supporting researchers with data analysis. Outside of Mathnasium, Philippe spends his time writing, playing tabletop games, and practicing Taekwondo.
Aida
Bilingual Lead Instructor
Aida holds an Honours Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Ottawa. She combines her passion for research and education to make learning math meaningful and relevant.
She has experience in scientific research, healthcare, and tutoring, and loves connecting knowledge to real-world applications. In her spare time, Aida enjoys volunteering, exploring new experiences, and contributing to her community.
