Mathnasium of SW Calgary - Problem of the Week!
Solve the problem of the week below for your grade level. During your @HOME session, be sure to tell your instructor or email the Math Centre your answer so your ballot can be deposited into your grade level entry box before closing time on Thursday. Students attending "in-Centre" sessions can deposit their ballots in their grade level entry box any time they are in the Math Centre during the week. On Thursday evening (8:00pm), a ballot will be drawn from each Problem of the Week Entry Box and the first “correct” solution drawn from each box will win a Fabulous $10 Gift Card. All other “correct” Mathlete solutions entered will receive “2” extra punches on their Reward Card at the start of their next session in the Math Learning Centre.

Problem of the Week for Grades 3 and 4: Rajan got a new video game. He scored 3 points on the first level, 4 points on the second level, 7 points on the third level, 12 points on the fourth level, and 19 points on the fifth level. If this pattern continues, how many points will he score on the seventh level?
Problem of the Week for Grades 5 and 6: Luoran visits a tea shop that brewed 16 5/16 pitchers of camomile tea, of which it sold 7 3/4 pitchers. How many pitchers remained unsold? (Write answer as a reduced Mixed Number)
Problem of the Week for Grades 7 and 8: The City of Calgary asked its residents to save water in order to lower the existing average daily water usage by 20%, setting this reduced amount as the target. However, due to warm weather, the actual water usage was still 10% higher than the target. If the actual water usage was 440 million litres per day, what was the existing average daily water usage?
Problem of the Week for Grades 9 and above: Pierce is looking at the Graph below and wants to represent the graph in 2 different ways. Give the equation of the line in Point-Slope Form and Standard Form.

Grades 5 and 6: Another struggle this past week but there was a bit more participation as everyone worked hard on solving the problem!
