At Mathnasium of Center City, we celebrate students who bring passion, perseverance, and a love for learning to our center. This month, we’re thrilled to spotlight Lena as our Student of the Month for March! Lena embodies everything we cherish—she shows up consistently, tackles math challenges with determination, and embraces every opportunity to grow. And let’s be honest—when Lena arrives, we all know it! She literally runs to the door and knocks with excitement, eager to dive into math.
Mathnasium isn’t just a tutoring center—it’s a third place in our students’ lives, a space where math becomes fun, creative, and engaging. Beyond instruction, students like Lena participate in our Math Craft Workshops, blending hands-on creativity with mathematical thinking. We were even recognized by PHL17 for our work in making math an experience to remember!

What was your first impression of Mathnasium?
- Math, math, and more math. I like the funny characters and drawing them.
Is there a specific area of math you’re most passionate about right now?
- Addition with 100,000s and 1,000,000s. I like writing big numbers.
Can you tell us about a math problem or concept that you found challenging but rewarding to master? How did you feel once you understood it?
- Mean and median. I’m still learning, I understand much better than I did before. I used to feel like my brain stopped working but now it feels easier.
What are some of your future goals related to math?
- Get good at any type of math. Fractions!
What is your favorite thing about Mathnasium?
- It has good people and good place.
