Hello, my name is Tara and I am the Centre Director for Mathnasium in Edinburgh.
I'm looking forward to making positive changes to the lives of children in the local area as they embark on their education journey.
I have worked in numerous countries that have had children at the heart of all my roles. I spent a number of years living in America helping to change the lives of many through the power of sport after spending 4 years at university studying Sport & Recreation Management.
Away from work you'll find me shouting for my favourite football team, watching Scotland trying to finally win a 6 nations as well as sampling the best coffee Edinburgh has to offer!
Hello, I'm Emily!
I'm a maths graduate from the University of Edinburgh and I began tutoring maths in 2014.
I have a particular interest in mathematical education because we gain so much more from learning maths than just numerical competency and mental maths skills.
The ability to learn, apply and adapt mathematical concepts helps develop imperative life skills such as logical thinking, informational analysis and deductive reasoning.
I aim to teach in a way that helps foster these skills within a fun and supportive environment.
Whilst I am not teaching maths I like to swim, go foraging in the woods and hang out with my cats Chai and Earl.
Hey, I'm Shugo!
I'm a recent Mechanical Engineering graduate from Edinburgh University.
As part of the Mathnasium team, I really want to share my passion for maths and more broadly for education. I want to foster not only the logical thinking , problem solving and analytical skills that maths can develop but also curiosity about the world. I try to enable our students to see maths as a fun set of puzzles rather than another chore. I want students to look forward to maths classes as a safe space where they can ask questions, sharpen their curiosity and be their best selves.
Outside of work, I enjoy solving Sudoku, playing puzzle video games and music - I've been playing viola and violin since I was a child and I've recently also decided to pick up the bass guitar.
Hi, I’m Max!!!
I’m a first year studying PPE at the University or Edinburgh and have tutored maths throughout my teenage years.
I have a real passion for maths and am always excited to share this with anyone that walks in the door. I love to be there for the moment when it all clicks for a pupil and they truly understand the key concept. My aim is to teach in a way that creates a fun, supportive and engaging environment to best develop mathematical skills.
Outside of work, I love to play rugby, watch Chelsea games and travel to new and exciting places.
Teach children maths so that they understand it, master it and love it. Maths can change their lives, and they can change the world.

Are you interested in changing lives through maths? We're looking for outstanding individuals with a high level of commitment who are passionate about teaching maths. Find out if there's a Mathnasium position that's just right for you!
