About Maths Tips: These tips give parents ideas for maths exercises that will develop their child’s maths abilities. Just as you should read with your child, you should do maths with them as well, using natural language that makes sense to a child. Doing maths with your child is a great way to interact with them and help them learn about our world.
Today’s parent tip for practising maths with your child focuses on grouping twelve things. Grouping things in equal numbers is a useful skill. It leads to an intuitive understanding of multiplication and division. Children can begin to learn how numbers are composed of other numbers (called factors). This skill is the basis of Number Sense.
