Mathnasium Pen Pals: Glasgow Meets New Jersey!

Sep 2, 2025 | Glasgow South

At Mathnasium of Glasgow South, we’re always looking for ways to make maths fun, engaging, and meaningful for our students. That’s why we’re thrilled to launch something brand new and truly unique: the Mathnasium Pen Pals Program!

This exciting initiative will connect our students here in Glasgow with fellow Mathnasium students all the way across the Atlantic in New Jersey, USA. ✉️💌

Why Pen Pals?

The world feels smaller when you’ve got a friend thousands of miles away! Through our Pen Pals Program, students won’t just be practicing communication and writing — they’ll be:

  • Building international friendships with peers their own age

  • Sharing maths puzzles, tricks, and challenges in a fun, creative way

  • Exploring culture and daily life in another part of the world

  • Growing curiosity, confidence, and big world aspirations as they discover opportunities beyond their local community

How it works

  • Each student will be paired with a pen pal from Mathnasium in New Jersey.

  • They’ll exchange letters, emails, and even little maths challenges throughout the year.

  • Every exchange will have a theme to spark ideas — from “My life in Glasgow vs. New Jersey” to “Favourite maths trick” to “What I want to be when I grow up”.

  • We’ll kick things off with a Pen Pal Welcome Day here at the centre, where students will write their very first letters!

A Message from Our Centre Director, Saqib

"At Mathnasium Glasgow South, we want our students to see that the world is full of possibilities. By connecting with peers in New Jersey, they’ll not only share their love of maths but also start imagining big dreams for their future. This program is about curiosity, connection, and inspiring our children to think beyond boundaries."

The Bigger Picture

This is more than just a writing project. It’s about helping children see how maths — and friendships — can connect people across the globe. By learning from their peers in another country, our students will gain fresh perspectives and start imagining what’s possible for their own future.

At Mathnasium, we believe learning should be about confidence, curiosity, and connection. The Pen Pals Program is the perfect way to bring all three together — while giving our students the inspiration and big world aspirations to dream bigger.

We can’t wait to share the stories, letters, and puzzles that come from this amazing journey! Stay tuned for updates as our Glasgow students connect with their new friends in New Jersey.
