Parent Maths Tip #10: Measurement

Mar 26, 2024 | Glasgow South

About Maths Tips: These tips provide parents with ideas for maths exercises that will develop their child’s maths abilities. Just as you should read with your child, you should do maths with them as well, using natural language that makes sense to a child. Doing maths with your child is a great way to interact with them and help them learn about our world.

Today’s parent tip focuses on measurement. Measurement is maths that we use every day. Measuring things with your child helps them develop a sense of scale. They can also practice counting, begin working with fractions, and eventually practice repeated addition (or multiplication) when converting between units of measure. For example, finding the number of centimetres in two metres.
