At Mathnasium of Center City, exam performance starts with building true math reasoning over time, not scrambling to review material the night before a test.
Every student begins with a diagnostic assessment that helps us identify where they stand and where the gaps are. From there, we put together a personalized learning plan that builds skills steadily and consistently.
Our specially trained tutors support students across any K-12 math class, from elementary math through Precalculus and beyond, reinforcing classroom concepts, addressing foundational gaps, and developing problem-solving habits that help students perform well on quizzes, midterms, and finals throughout the year.
As a major exam approaches, we can shift focus to align instruction with the specific topics it will cover, so students feel ready when the day arrives.
Yes! Mathnasium of Center City prepares students for both the Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA) for grades 3-8 and the Keystone Exams for high school.
Our instructors understand the Pennsylvania Core Standards for Mathematics the assessments reflect, ensuring students have a solid grasp of the grade-level concepts they'll encounter on test day. We use a diagnostic assessment to identify where each student needs support and build a personalized learning plan that targets the skills they need to meet and exceed grade-level expectations.
The sooner, the better. Because both the PSSA and Keystone Exams measure cumulative math understanding built over the school year, students benefit most from ongoing support rather than last-minute preparation.
Ideally, students should begin working with us at the start of the school year or semester. This gives us time to identify and address knowledge gaps, build foundational skills, and ensure students are progressing steadily toward grade-level mastery well before test day.
Yes! Mathnasium of Center City prepares high school students for the math sections of the SAT®, PSAT®, and ACT®.
Our specially trained tutors use proprietary test prep materials and personalized learning plans to build the content knowledge and problem-solving strategies students need to perform their best on test day. We also help students prepare for private school entrance exams such as the ISEE. Whether your student is preparing for the first time or working to improve a previous result, we tailor preparation to their current skill level and target goals.
Earlier is always better, and we generally recommend beginning at least eight to ten months before the exam date.
College admissions math tests cover a broad range of topics, from algebra and data analysis to geometry and, on the ACT®, trigonometry. Students who begin preparation early have time to work through knowledge gaps, practice exam-style problems, and develop the confidence that comes from sustained practice.
For students with significant foundational gaps, starting in middle school or early high school gives them the best possible footing heading into test prep. If the exam is coming up sooner, reach out to Mathnasium of Center City and we'll build a focused plan around your student's timeline.
Math test prep at Mathnasium of Center City is included as part of a flat monthly membership. Pricing depends on each student's individual learning plan and session schedule.
For specific pricing information, please contact our center directly. We're happy to walk you through the options and find a plan that fits your student's goals and your family's needs.
Every student comes in at a different place, so the session count varies based on current skill level, the target exam, and how much time remains before test day.
As a general guide, most students preparing for a major exam such as the SAT®, PSAT®, or ACT® attend two sessions per week over three to six months. For state assessments or school-based exams, a shorter timeline may be sufficient depending on each student's needs.
After the diagnostic assessment, we'll have a clear picture of what your student needs and can recommend a session schedule that gives them the best chance of success.
Yes. Our specially trained tutors understand the Pennsylvania Core Standards for Mathematics and the curriculum expectations of local schools throughout Philadelphia's neighborhoods.
