Helen is passionate about helping children develop confidence in maths, something that comes from her own personal experience.
By the time Helen reached secondary school, she'd changed schools 7 times due to her father's job and had some big gaps in maths. Thankfully a kind teacher took time to teach Helen at lunchtimes, which ultimately led to Helen gaining confidence, loving maths and going on to study maths at degree level.
Having lived in and around Bishop’s Stortford for nearly 20 years and raised two children locally with her husband Nick, Helen is passionate about supporting families in the local community. Together, Helen and Nick opened Mathnasium Bishop’s Stortford to give children access to individualised maths support that complements the work being done in their schools.
Helen creates a welcoming and encouraging centre where children can strengthen their maths skills, grow in confidence and discover that maths really can make sense.
Nick’s own experience of school gives him a very personal connection to Mathnasium. As a child with dyslexia, he found many areas of school challenging, but maths was different, it was the subject that gave him confidence.
This experience has given Nick a real understanding of how important it is for children to discover their individual strengths and to be supported in a way that works for them.
Nick and his wife Helen have lived in the Sawbridgeworth and Bishop’s Stortford area for 19 years and have raised their two children locally. Together, they have brought Mathnasium to Bishop’s Stortford to provide local children with a positive, supportive environment where they can build strong maths skills and importantly, confidence in themselves.
