At Mathnasium of Winchmore Hill, instructors teach using the Mathnasium Method™, our proprietary teaching approach designed to help children build maths mastery. It combines personalised learning plans with a variety of mental, verbal, visual, tactile and written techniques, keeping children engaged while they work to (re)build their maths foundations and expand their mathematical thinking.
Guided by the Mathnasium Method™, we empower students from the Enfield and Southgate school communities to excel on their maths journey.
Our specially trained instructors at Mathnasium of Winchmore Hill deliver instruction face-to-face in a caring and fun group environment, whether in-centre on Green Lanes or online through Mathnasium@home. Every session follows a child's personalised learning plan.
Winchmore Hill draws children from schools across N21 and the wider Enfield area, including Keble Prep, St Paul's CoE Primary School and Winchmore School. Our instructors are familiar with the maths expectations of these schools and experienced in supporting children from 7+ and 11+ preparation through to GCSE.
Every child at Mathnasium of Winchmore Hill begins their Mathnasium journey with a diagnostic assessment, so our instructors know precisely what they have already mastered and where the knowledge gaps are. We use those assessment-based insights to build a personalised learning plan, ordering topics so each one has something solid to build on rather than being tackled at random.
We check sessions against the plan regularly, so it keeps evolving alongside the child rather than staying fixed.

We work with students from Reception through to GCSE, ages 4 to 16, across every Key Stage from the Early Years Foundation Stage through to KS4.
Families in Winchmore Hill and the surrounding area tend to come to us either to build solid number sense early on, to prepare for the 11+ or to get through GCSE maths with more confidence. We shape the plan around their goals and their child’s learning needs.
Our instructors work across the full primary and secondary maths curriculum: number and arithmetic, fractions, decimals and percentages, algebra, ratio and proportion, geometry, statistics and trigonometry, spanning KS1 through to KS4.
Because sessions are built around each child's personalised learning plan rather than a set syllabus, two children in the centre at the same time might be working on completely different topics.
A private tutor typically works session by session, picking up wherever the child happens to be that day. Mathnasium of Winchmore Hill is built differently from the outset.
Every child begins their Mathnasium experience with a diagnostic assessment, which gives us an accurate picture of what they know and where the gaps are. From there, we build their personalised learning plan focused on (re)building the maths foundations and gradually expanding their mathematical thinking. Our goal is to help students develop a long-term mastery of maths, while supporting them in meeting classroom expectations.
Instructors follow the Mathnasium Method™, our proprietary teaching approach, used at more than 1,200 Mathnasium centres worldwide, so a child's progress follows a consistent structure rather than depending on that day's homework.
Sessions take place in a caring and fun group environment, where children get face-to-face tutoring while working alongside others their own age.
We don't teach to a traditional curriculum. Instructors use the Mathnasium Method™, a proprietary teaching approach that combines personalised learning plans with proven teaching techniques to promote maths mastery.
Sessions draw on mental, verbal, visual, tactile and written techniques, guided by each child's personalised learning plan, while staying mindful of what students are covering at school under the National Curriculum.
Mathnasium of Winchmore Hill works with students of all skill levels, from those catching up to those keeping up or getting ahead in their maths class.
Students who are already doing well can push further with enrichment and targeted preparation for the 7+ and 11+, sharpening the speed and accuracy those papers demand.
For children who are finding maths difficult, the personalised learning plan ensures we start from exactly where they are and build forward at a pace that works for them, with caring instructors creating a relaxed, supportive environment where their confidence can grow.
Absolutely! Mathnasium of Winchmore Hill supports children preparing for the 11+ and 7+ entrance exams used by local grammar and independent schools.
We recommend starting preparation at least a year ahead of the exam, giving children time to build numerical reasoning skills and work steadily through the range of question types they'll meet on the day.
Of course, our instructors support Year 10 and Year 11 students through GCSE maths, working from a personalised learning plan built around their target grade and the topics where they most need to improve.
We cover the full GCSE maths curriculum across both Foundation and Higher tiers.
Certainly! We help Year 6 students prepare for their KS2 SATs papers, covering both the Arithmetic and Reasoning elements and support Year 2 students working towards their KS1 assessments.
Mathnasium of Winchmore Hill operates on a flat monthly membership fee, much like a gym membership. Most students attend two to three sessions a week depending on their personalised learning plan.
Following the diagnostic assessment, we will recommend a session schedule tailored to your child's personalised learning plan.
Start by getting in touch through the Contact Us button on this page or by emailing [email protected]. We'll arrange a diagnostic assessment to see exactly where your child's maths stands and where they need support.
Once that's done, we'll talk through the results and the personalised learning plan we've built for them and answer any questions before their first session.
