The Mathnasium Method™ is our proprietary teaching approach designed to help children build maths mastery. It combines personalised learning plans with mental, verbal, visual, tactile and written techniques so children understand why something works, not just the steps to follow.
Children progress through our teaching approach at their own pace, building the kind of maths mastery that holds up under exam pressure and in the classroom.
Instructors at Mathnasium of Harrow are specially trained in the Mathnasium Method™ and focused on guiding students towards lasting maths mastery. We deliver instruction face-to-face in a caring and fun group environment, whether in-centre on College Road or online through Mathnasium@home.
From Reception through to GCSE, we follow each student's personalised learning plan and use a variety of teaching techniques to keep students engaged and grow their knowledge level by level.
Rather than placing a child straight into a set syllabus, enrolment begins with a diagnostic assessment to identify their skill level, knowledge gaps, and learning style. Using assessment-based insights, we draw up a personalised learning plan tailored to the student's specific needs and goals.
As sessions continue, the plan is adjusted regularly to keep it aligned with a child's progress toward maths mastery.

We work with students from Reception through to GCSE, ages 4 to 16, across every Key Stage from the Early Years Foundation Stage through to KS4.
Harrow families come to us for a wide range of reasons: some want an early start on number sense, others are working toward one of the many entrance exams in the area and others are pushing through GCSE maths.
Our instructors work across the full primary and secondary maths curriculum: number and arithmetic, fractions, decimals and percentages, algebra, ratio and proportion, geometry, statistics and trigonometry, spanning KS1 through to KS4.
Sessions follow each child's personalised learning plan rather than a set syllabus, so a Year 4 child working on fractions and a Year 11 child revising trigonometry ahead of GCSE will each spend their time on exactly what they need.
Private tutoring tends to be reactive, called on to help with a difficult topic, a piece of maths homework or an upcoming test, then stepping back once the immediate need has passed.
Mathnasium of Harrow takes a different approach, focused on building long-term maths mastery while still leaving room for that kind of reactive support. We start by identifying and closing knowledge gaps, then introduce new concepts in a logical sequence so each idea builds on secure foundations.
Every session also sets aside time for a child's current schoolwork, so they can go back to their maths class with confidence.
Instructors follow the Mathnasium Method™, our proprietary teaching approach used at more than 1,200 centres worldwide, delivered face-to-face in a caring and fun group environment.
We don't follow a standard curriculum. Instructors use the Mathnasium Method™, our proprietary teaching approach that combines personalised learning plans with proven teaching techniques to help students truly understand and even enjoy maths.
Instructors combine mental, verbal, visual, tactile and written techniques guided by each child's personalised learning plan, but we can align with what students are covering at school under the National Curriculum.
Mathnasium of Harrow works with students of all skill levels, helping them catch up, keep up or get ahead on their maths journey.
Advanced students get access to enrichment beyond the school curriculum, including competition-level problem solving and preparation for entrance exams and UKMT challenges.
For children who are finding maths difficult, the personalised learning plan ensures we start from exactly where they are and grow forward at a pace that works for them. Our caring instructors work with them face-to-face, celebrating wins both big and small, gradually (re)building their confidence and reigniting their natural love of learning.
Mathnasium of Harrow supports children preparing for the full range of entrance exams used by local independent and grammar schools, including 7+, 8+, 9+, 10+, 11+, 12+ and 13+.
Many of the families we work with are navigating entry to schools such as John Lyon School, QE Boys School, Parmiter's School, Merchant Taylors' School, Orley Farm School or the Haberdashers' Schools. We recommend starting preparation at least a year ahead of the relevant exam, to leave time to build numerical reasoning skills and work through the full range of question types.
Of course, our instructors support Year 10 and Year 11 students through GCSE maths, with sessions built around their target grade, current performance and the topics that need the most work.
We cover the full GCSE maths curriculum from number and algebra to geometry, ratio, probability and statistics, across both Foundation and Higher tiers.
Absolutely! Mathnasium of Harrow supports students taking part in UKMT challenges, including the Junior Mathematical Challenge, as well as Maths Olympiad competitions.
These competitions call for a different kind of thinking to school maths and our instructors build the problem-solving stamina and confidence students need to tackle unfamiliar questions under time pressure.
Mathnasium of Harrow operates on a flat monthly membership fee, with most students attending two to three sessions a week depending on their personalised learning plan.
Following the diagnostic assessment, we will recommend a session plan tailored to your child's learning needs and goals.
Start by getting in touch through the Contact Us button on this page or by emailing [email protected]. We will arrange a diagnostic assessment to build a clear picture of where your child is in their maths and what support would help most.
After the assessment, we will talk you through the results and the personalised learning plan we have put together, then answer any questions before sessions begin.
