Our tutors are trained to teach each student individually, to develop the skills they need to thrive in mathematics, and to foster a love of learning.

Milly

Head of Education

Milly studied animal science and worked as a vet nurse for 2 years, but she has always loved maths and thinks that it is the foundation of all knowledge and all life. In her spare time she plays the piano, paints and reads books about maths & mathematicians through the ages. Before working at Mathnasium, Milly spent a year in South Africa caring for injured wildlife, but eventually wanted a more challenging and mentally stimulating occupation. She finds teaching children really rewarding and loves to see them developing a true understanding & enjoyment of maths.

Remi

Centre Manager

Remi studied International Business, Economics and Politics with an emphasis on accounting at Aoyama Gakuin University in Tokyo. Whilst living in Japan, she deepened her appreciation of maths as it was integral to her earlier career development. Working in the financial services' software industry, Remi supported and educated clients in their usage and understanding of the financial modelling the maths engine provided and developed internal communication workflows and content creation capabilities.

Remi settled in North London eleven years ago, and her two children happily attend school in Muswell Hill. She loves to help and watch her elder child's growth in his love for the subject and become the sweetest numeracy mentor to his younger sister. But most of all, Remi loves engaging in the community for the direct benefit of the children. She is passionate about creating a fun, engaging and inspiring environment that empowers our Mathnasium students with the twin tools of numeracy and problem solving that are so valuable to have in life. She also enjoys yoga.

Paniz

Assistant Manager

Paniz is a Maths postgrad who stumbled into a career as a translator following the completion of her Masters. She serendipitously stumbled upon Mathnasium while needing a change and has relished the focus back on Maths. She finds satisfaction in the linear logic and concrete solutions, but also the creativity available in higher mathematics, all codifying universal truths and serving as the ultimate language. She has found getting to know the students extremely enriching and is committed to helping them increase their ease, enthusiasm and achievement in maths.

Phillip

Lead Instructor

Philip studied maths, statistics and operational research at the University of Manchester and then worked for 15 years as a City Trader and then 15 years working for a large American IT company. For the last part of his professional life Philip wanted to try something completely different and as he loves maths, teaching and helping kids, Mathnasium ticked all his boxes. He is now enjoying the most fulfilling part of his career.

Ted

Instructor

Ted recently completed a Master’s degree in Computer Science, with a focus on nature-inspired and self-learning algorithms. He hopes to transition into a research role after gaining experience in industry. Passionate about the real-world applicability of mathematics, Ted finds great satisfaction in helping students understand new concepts.

Outside the classroom, Ted enjoys playing music - currently exploring stringed instruments - as well as playing racquet sports and spending time with friends.

Eray

Instructor

Eray is a Muswell Hill local who has graduated with a Master's degree in pharmacy in 2022, looking to maintain a role in the pharmaceutical sector in the future. One of the top students in his secondary school, he has developed a massive affinity for maths from a very young age and has taught maths to students in his neighbourhood ranging from Years 1 to 11, with it emerging a strong desire in him to help kids become fluent in the mathematical language.

Eray is also an avid Tottenham Hotspur fan whose hobbies include photography, long-distance swimming and playing the guitar.

Syeda

Instructor

Syeda is currently in her first year of A Levels, studying Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry and Biology. She likes how maths is a universal language that connects people through its consistent logics and principles. She likes teaching because she can share the satisfaction of being able to solve a complex problem whilst watching the students grow in confidence. Outside of teaching, Syeda enjoys playing the piano and learning Mandarin.

Elsie

Lead Instructor

Elsie is studying Maths, Biology, Chemistry, and Music at an A level and hopes to do medicine at the University of Oxford. She loves being an instructor, especially when she sees kids find math as exciting and engaging as she does. Seeing the change in their faces when they understand a new concept may be the most rewarding part of working at Mathnasium. They also make her laugh!

Farhan

Lead Instructor

Farhan enjoys studying and teaching Maths. Having previously tutored Maths & Mandarin for 3 years, he is excited to share his skills with his students. Cracking the answers to the most difficult Maths problems gives him great satisfaction. He has entered and received awards in competitive challenges such as the UKMT Maths Challenge and the British Physics Olympiad. Farhan is a swimmer, pianist, and competitive Karateka, preparing for his black belt grading. He enjoys reading 1800s novels and travelling abroad.

Darcey

Instructor

Darcey is studying Maths, Physics, and Economics at A Level. She enjoys F1, baking, and reading. Her goal is to go to the University of Warwick. She finds Mathnasium a great place to help people, spread the love of maths, and simply enjoy anything related to teaching, maths, and people. Darcey's sister also attends Mathnasium.

Tom

Instructor

Tom is studying Philosophy, History, Economics and Film at A level but wanted to keep engaging with maths so decided an instructor would be the perfect job for him. He loves being able to share his passion for maths with younger students and helping them to gain confidence in their mathematical skills. His favourite things to do are playing the piano, reading history and practicing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and he hopes to study PPE at Bristol or Manchester
