James is an experienced Mathnasium Multi-centre Owner of Whetstone, Barnet, and St Albans. James holds a Master’s degree in Engineering from Durham University and later qualified as a Chartered Accountant, working at MHA MacIntyre Hudson where he specialised in audit, accounts, and corporate finance.
Having struggled with maths as a child, James recognises the importance of understanding the core principles of mathematics and the career opportunities that can follow. He is enthusiastic about helping children understand maths so they have the confidence to realise their potential.
James is a keen sportsman and enjoys watching rugby (provided England are winning!). He also enjoys battling his age in a 5-a-side football league.
Nico has been working with children since the age of 14, when he first began volunteering with his local council. His strong academic background, including an A in Maths at A Level, gave him a solid foundation in numeracy and problem solving, which later supported him in achieving a 1st Class degree in Film Business from MetFilm School. With nearly a decade of experience working with young people, including four years teaching at summer camps in America where he progressed to Head of Department for Outdoor Education, Nico is a passionate advocate for the value of extra curricular learning and the positive impact it can have on a child’s confidence and understanding of maths.
Known for his approachable and encouraging nature, Nico enjoys helping students build confidence in their learning and bringing energy and curiosity into the classroom, especially when teaching animal facts, one of his favourite topics. Outside of Mathnasium, he enjoys travelling, playing Dungeons & Dragons, and watching films, with his favourite movie being Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
Abdul is a graduate of Economics from University College London, where he developed strong problem-solving and analytical skills. During his time at university, he also completed several finance internships, but it was his years of experience as a maths tutor that showed him how rewarding it is to help students grow in confidence and ability.
Now, as Centre Manager at Mathnasium Whetstone, Abdul brings his passion for maths and education into everything he does. He believes that every child can succeed in maths with the right support, and he works hard to make sure students feel motivated, encouraged, and excited to learn. Known for his fun and engaging teaching style, Abdul creates an environment where children look forward to coming in, tackling challenges, and celebrating their progress.
Outside of Mathnasium, you can usually find Abdul watching Arsenal. He rarely misses a match, even if it means watching them lose and break his heart from time to time! He also enjoys playing football and padel, and spending quality time with his friends and family.
Jess is a proud graduate of the London School of Economics. She began her Mathnasium journey as the Centre Manager at Mathnasium of Ealing, where she developed a deep passion for helping students grow in confidence and ability through maths. A long-time fan of the Mathnasium Method, Jess is now focused on supporting centres across the region in delivering outstanding experiences for families and driving continued growth. Outside of Mathnasium, Jess enjoys socialising with her friends and watching TV.
Sunny holds a BSc in Psychology from the University of Warwick and an MSc in Organisational Psychology from King’s College London. She previously worked as a Centre Manager and now supports our wider Mathnasium network, sharing her passion for helping children learn and grow. At Mathnasium, she’s excited to create a positive environment where students can build confidence and thrive.
Outside of work, Sunny enjoys spending time with friends and family, watching movies, and reading.
Elsa is currently studying Accountancy at Queen Mary University and has been a valued member of the Mathnasium team for the past two years. She is passionate about helping students develop confidence in maths and believes that learning can be both fun and rewarding. Elsa’s teaching style is patient, engaging, and tailored to each child, ensuring that complex concepts feel approachable and achievable. She loves celebrating students’ progress and creating a positive, encouraging environment where they can thrive.
Outside of Mathnasium, Elsa enjoys singing R&B music, long walks, and spending time in nature.
Nikhita is currently studying Law at the University of Law, while also bringing years of experience to her role at Mathnasium. She has developed a real passion for helping students gain confidence and enjoy learning maths, believing that a strong foundation in the subject can open doors to future opportunities. Nikhita takes pride in making challenging concepts approachable and fun, ensuring every child feels supported and motivated.
Outside of Mathnasium, she enjoys swimming, following F1, and spending time with friends.
Isabel is currently studying Maths, Chemistry, and Biology at sixth form. She loves helping students prepare for tests and tackle tricky problems, knowing that teaching maths also sharpens her own skills. Isabel brings energy and enthusiasm to every session, making learning fun and helping students build confidence while truly enjoying the subject. She takes pride in celebrating every student’s progress, no matter how big or small.
Outside of Mathnasium, Isabel plays the flute, enjoys going out with friends, and loves acting.
Leo is currently a student at the University of Warwick, where he is pursuing his passion for mathematics. Even while studying, he always makes time to come back during the holidays to teach at Mathnasium, as he finds it incredibly rewarding to help students grow in confidence and understanding. For Leo, teaching maths is not just about the numbers; it’s about seeing the “lightbulb moments” when concepts click and sharing in the excitement of his students’ progress.
Outside of his studies and teaching, Leo is a huge Mansfield Town FC fan, proudly supporting his team through all the highs and lows!
Eva is currently studying Chemical Engineering at the University of Leeds. She recently completed her A-levels, achieving an A in both Maths and Chemistry. Eva loves coming back to Mathnasium during the holidays to help students build not just their skills, but their confidence in maths. She finds it incredibly rewarding to see students believe in themselves, tackle challenges, and feel proud of their progress.
Outside of Mathnasium, Eva enjoys reading, listening to music, and playing netball.
Alaiya is currently studying at the London School of Economics and Political Science. She previously studied Maths at A-Level, where she discovered that while it can be challenging, it can also be a lot of fun! Alaiya works across both Whetstone and Barnet, sharing her love of maths with all her students and helping them build confidence while making learning enjoyable and rewarding. She takes pride in seeing students progress and celebrating their successes along the way.
Outside of Mathnasium, Alaiya loves baking and experimenting with new recipes.
Yekta has been working with Mathnasium for several years and loves helping students build confidence in their maths skills through the program’s fun and engaging approach. He finds it incredibly rewarding to see students tackle challenges, grow in ability, and develop a genuine enthusiasm for maths. Known for his sense of humor, Yekta brings creativity and energy to every lesson, and kids love learning with him.
Outside of Mathnasium, he enjoys reading, playing chess, and playing the piano.
