At Mathnasium of Wimbledon, our specially trained instructors use the Mathnasium Method™ to help children build a true understanding of maths rather than simply memorise processes. This proprietary teaching approach draws on personalised learning plans and a blend of mental, verbal, visual, tactile and written techniques to meet each child where they are and move them forward.
The result is a solid foundation for long-term maths mastery, and for many children, a confidence in maths they didn't think was possible.
Mathnasium Wimbledon's specially trained instructors work with children from Reception through to GCSE in a supportive, one-to-one setting, whether in-centre on Ridgway or online via Mathnasium@home.
Our instructors deliver face-to-face instruction that is guided by each child’s personalised learning plan, so every session moves them forward on their own maths journey.
No two children arrive at Mathnasium with the same gaps or the same goals. At Mathnasium of Wimbledon, each child's programme begins with a diagnostic assessment that maps exactly what they know and where support is needed.
From there, we build a personalised learning plan that keeps children progressing at the right pace, closing knowledge gaps, building on existing strengths and developing the problem-solving skills that carry through every stage of school maths.

Mathnasium of Wimbledon works with children from Reception through to GCSE, ages 4 to 16, across all Key Stages from the Early Years Foundation Stage through to KS4.
We tailor our approach to wherever a child is in their schooling, so whether your child has just started primary school or is heading into their GCSE years, there is a programme here that fits.
Our instructors cover the full range of primary and secondary maths, from the early number skills that underpin everything else, through to the algebra, geometry, statistics, and trigonometry that children encounter in KS3 and KS4. We support all year groups from KS1 through to GCSE.
Because every child follows a personalised learning plan, sessions target the specific topics they find most challenging rather than working through a set programme. If your child is struggling with fractions in Year 5 or needs to sharpen their algebra ahead of mocks, that is where we focus.
A private tutor typically follows what a child brings to each session, a worksheet, a homework problem or an upcoming test. Mathnasium of Wimbledon works differently.
Every child starts with a diagnostic assessment, and their sessions are shaped by a structured personalised learning plan designed to close knowledge gaps systematically.
Teaching happens in a supportive small-group setting, where children receive personalised one-to-one instruction, which keeps children engaged and helps them build confidence. And because our instructors follow the Mathnasium Method™, a consistent approach used across 1,200+ centres worldwide, the progress children make here is built to last.
We use the Mathnasium Method™, our proprietary teaching approach, rather than following a fixed curriculum. It is built around the idea that maths should make sense and that children who truly understand a concept will retain it and apply it, rather than forget it the moment the test is over.
In practice, our instructors use mental, verbal, visual, tactile and written techniques alongside personalised, assessment-based learning plans. Sessions can be designed to align with what children are covering in school under the National Curriculum, while also addressing any gaps that may have built up over previous years.
Mathnasium of Wimbledon works with children across skill levels, whether they need to catch up, keep pace with their year group or they are ready to get ahead.
For children who are finding maths difficult, we start from what they already know and build from there, closing gaps methodically so that new topics have the foundation they need.
For advanced children, we open up areas of maths that go beyond the school curriculum, helping them deepen their understanding and prepare for selective school entry, competitions or simply the more demanding work ahead.
Yes! Mathnasium of Wimbledon supports children sitting the 11+ for selective secondary school entry, covering the numerical reasoning and problem-solving skills the exam tests. Wimbledon and the surrounding Merton and Wandsworth areas have a number of competitive independent and grammar school options, and we help families prepare for those processes thoroughly.
We recommend beginning preparation in Year 4 or the start of Year 5 to allow enough time to address any gaps and build consistent performance across the full range of question types. We also support children preparing for 7+ and 10+ entry.
Yes. GCSE maths is one of the most important qualifications a child will sit, and Mathnasium of Wimbledon supports Year 10 and Year 11 pupils to approach it with confidence.
Our instructors work through a personalised plan built around each child’s grade history, target grade and the topics that need the most attention, covering everything from number and algebra through to geometry, probability and statistics.
Yes. We support Year 6 children ahead of their KS2 SATs® maths papers, with targeted preparation across both the Arithmetic and Reasoning papers. Rather than drilling past papers in isolation, we use the diagnostic assessment to identify the specific concepts that need reinforcing, then build those into the child’s learning plan so that preparation is efficient and well-founded.
We can also help Year 4 children get ready for the Multiplication Tables Check and Year 2 children working towards their KS1 assessments.
Tuition at Mathnasium of Wimbledon is priced as a flat monthly membership fee. Following the diagnostic assessment, we will recommend how many sessions per week makes sense for your child's learning plan. Most children attend two to three times a week.
For current pricing, please get in touch directly: [email protected] or 0203 2806 621.
The first step is a diagnostic assessment, which is how we get to know your child's maths properly, rather than making assumptions about where they are. From there, we build their personalised learning plan and talk you through exactly what we recommend.
