At Mathnasium of Worcester, our specially trained instructors use the Mathnasium Method™ to help children develop a real understanding of maths — one that holds up under pressure and grows with them as the curriculum becomes more demanding. This proprietary teaching approach combines personalised learning plans with mental, verbal, visual, tactile and written techniques, so each child gets instruction that fits the way they think.
Maths builds on itself, and the Mathnasium Method™ is designed with that in mind, ensuring that every new concept has the foundations it needs to stick.
Our caring, specially trained instructors work with children from Reception through to GCSE at our centre in The Old Fire Station on Copenhagen Street, and online via Mathnasium@home.
It is a welcoming, central setting, easy to reach from across Worcester and the surrounding area, where pupils work in a supportive one-to-one environment guided by their own personalised learning plan.
At Mathnasium of Worcester, no two children follow the same programme. Every child begins with a thorough diagnostic assessment, and from those results we build a personalised learning plan that addresses their specific knowledge gaps and reflects their goals, whether that means preparing for a grammar school entrance exam, consolidating primary maths before the move to secondary, or targeting a strong GCSEs grade.
Children progress steadily through their plan, with each session building on the last.

Isaac Shepherd
Instructor
I believe that maths should be accessible for all, whether you're a natural mathematician or not. I always build my pupils confidence, giving them lots of positive praise and encouragement along the way. One to one tuition really does produce amazing results and we have a lot of fun along the way! My degree in Aerospace Engineering involved complex maths, but none of this would have been achievable without the solid building blocks of mathematics which I learned at a very young age.
Nicole Creado
Instructor
Nicole is currently studying her A Levels in Further Maths, Physics and Chemistry, having already achieved her A Level Maths in a year. She has a passion for maths and wishes to study it further. Her love for maths is clear when she tutors students at Mathnasium. In her free time, she is often found reading or playing board games.
Whether they would like to attend sessions in-centre or online, students can take 3 easy steps to enrol at Mathnasium.
All students begin their Mathnasium journey with a diagnostic assessment that pinpoints what they already know and what they still need to learn.

Mathnasium of Worcester works with children from Reception through to GCSEs, ages 4 to 16, spanning all Key Stages from the Early Years Foundation Stage through to KS4.
Worcester has a mix of state and independent schools, each with their own academic expectations. We work with families across all of those pathways, helping children build the maths skills they need at each stage, from early primary through to their final GCSE exams.
Our instructors cover the full range of primary and secondary maths, from early number fluency and times tables through to algebra, geometry, trigonometry, probability, ratio, and statistics at GCSEs level. We support pupils across all Key Stages: KS1, KS2, KS3, and KS4.
Sessions are shaped by each child's customised learning plan rather than a fixed syllabus. That means a Year 5 pupil working on fractions and a Year 11 pupil polishing their GCSEs Higher paper technique are each getting a programme built specifically for them, not a one-size-fits-all course.
Private tutoring tends to be reactive, working through whatever the child brings in that week, responding to the most recent homework or upcoming test. Mathnasium of Worcester takes a more structured approach.
Every pupil starts with a diagnostic assessment, and all teaching is shaped by a personalised learning plan designed to address knowledge gaps in a logical order. Our instructors follow the Mathnasium Method™, a proprietary teaching approach used across 1,200+ centres worldwide, so progress is planned and cumulative rather than week to week.
Sessions take place in a fun small-group environment, where children receive personalised one-to-one instruction, which keeps children engaged and helps build confidence.
We use the Mathnasium Method™ rather than following a fixed curriculum. Our proprietary approach is built around the principle that maths makes sense when it is taught in the right order, with each concept properly understood before the next is introduced.
Our instructors draw on mental, verbal, visual, tactile and written approaches, all guided by each child's customised learning plan.
We can align sessions with the National Curriculum so that children are reinforcing what they cover in school, but the Mathnasium Method™ goes further, filling in the gaps that can accumulate over years of classroom learning and helping children understand the reasoning behind the maths.
We work with children of all skill levels and in Worcester, where grammar and independent school places are highly competitive, a good number of the families we see are focused on getting ahead rather than catching up.
For children who are at level or ahead in maths, we extend their learning beyond the school curriculum, develop deeper problem-solving skills and prepare them for the rigour of grammar school entrance exams or selective independent school assessments.
For children who are struggling, we start from a point of confidence, building on what they already know, closing gaps carefully, and making sure new topics land properly before moving on.
Yes! Mathnasium of Worcester supports pupils preparing for the 11+ entrance exams for grammar and independent schools in Worcestershire and the surrounding area. Worcester has selective grammar schools and well-regarded independent options, and the maths and numerical reasoning components of these exams require systematic, well-grounded preparation.
We recommend beginning 11+ preparation in Year 4 or early Year 5, allowing enough time to address any knowledge gaps and build confident, consistent performance across the full range of question types.
Yes! Our instructors work with Year 10 and Year 11 pupils on a personalised GCSE preparation plan tailored to their current grade, target, and the specific topics they need to focus on.
We cover the full GCSE maths curriculum across both Foundation and Higher tiers, including number, algebra, geometry, ratio, probability, and statistics.
Worcester children often come to us when mock results highlight a gap, or when they want to be well ahead of the curve before Year 10 begins. Either way, we build a plan around what they actually need.
Yes. We support Year 6 children preparing for their KS2 SATs® maths papers, working across both the Arithmetic and Reasoning papers with a personalised plan focused on each child's specific areas of difficulty. That targeted approach means children are not spending time on topics they have already mastered. Every session counts.
We also support Year 4 children ahead of the Multiplication Tables Check and Year 2 children working towards their KS1 teacher assessments.
Mathnasium of Worcester operates on a flat monthly membership fee. The number of sessions we recommend per week will depend on your child's personalised learning plan. Most children attend two to three times a week, with some adjusting frequency ahead of key exams.
For current pricing, contact us at [email protected] or call 0190 5915 461.
Use the Contact Us button on this page or email [email protected] to get in touch. We will arrange a diagnostic assessment at a convenient time; this is the first step and it gives us the full picture of where your child is in their maths before we build their personalised learning plan.
After the assessment, we will go through the results with you, explain what we have put together for your child, and answer any questions before sessions begin.
This summer, give your child the confidence to succeed in maths while having fun along the way!
