We welcome you to contact your local Mathnasium learning centre with any questions you may have about statistics tutoring. Here are some of the more common ones we get:
Mathnasium is a growing network of maths-only learning centres with over 40 locations across the UK, including Wokingham, St Albans and Milton Keynes in the South East, Manchester in the North West, and Glasgow and Edinburgh in Scotland.
You can use the "Find a Centre" feature through our website to find one near you. If there is not yet a centre in your area, Mathnasium@home, our online programme, is available until we provide a centre near you.
Private tutors may focus on a particular topic, piece of schoolwork or upcoming exam. Mathnasium takes a different approach.
We start by identifying each student’s individual strengths and knowledge gaps, then create a tailored learning plan designed around what they need to learn.
Our specially trained instructors use the Mathnasium Method™ to help students develop a deeper understanding of maths, including statistics and data-handling concepts appropriate to their level. Whether they need to catch up, keep up or get ahead, students receive face-to-face instruction in a supportive and engaging learning environment.
The Mathnasium Method™ is our proprietary teaching approach designed to help children build maths mastery by developing a deep understanding of how maths works and enhancing students’ critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
The approach combines proven teaching techniques with learning plans tailored to each student’s specific learning needs and styles.
Our instructors use the teaching approach in a caring and fun group environment and provide face-to-face instruction to help each student understand and enjoy statistics.

Yes, when needed, our instructors can offer homework support during sessions. They help students work through assignments without simply handing over answers.
No. Statistics sessions that run online through Mathnasium@home follow exactly the same format as in-centre sessions. They are live and face-to-face, led by the same specially trained instructors your child would meet at their nearest Mathnasium centre and guided by the same tailored learning plan.
The cost of Mathnasium varies by programme and area. What stays consistent is the structure. Students pay a flat enrolment fee and attend regularly throughout the programme, much like a gym membership.
We suggest attending Mathnasium 2-3 times per week, but this should be determined according to the student's needs. Following the diagnostic assessment, we will recommend a session plan tailored to your child's learning needs and goals.
The diagnostic assessment gives us a precise picture of where your child's statistics knowledge currently stands, including the foundational maths that sits beneath it. We use those findings to build a tailored learning plan targeting the gaps that matter most.
Every student at Mathnasium begins with this assessment. It is what makes the learning plan truly customised rather than generic.
The enrolment process is straightforward:
Find your nearest Mathnasium centre and get in touch, even if your child will be learning online.
Book a free assessment. We use it to identify knowledge gaps and build a tailored learning plan with guidance from our specially trained maths instructors.
Set up a schedule. Your local Centre Director will help find session times that fit your family and walk you through the rest of the process.

Finding and addressing what seemed not so important gaps in my children's abilities has allowed both of them to power on at high speed because they haven't just learnt how to answer a question but learnt concepts in an extensible way, without leaving holes in their understanding.
