Yes. KS1 assessments are teacher-led rather than a single test, so our focus is on building number confidence and foundational skills like counting, number bonds and early times tables, that support your child's ongoing teacher assessment throughout Year 2.
Before drilling number bonds, we check whether a student has the foundational skills to support them, like one-to-one correspondence (matching each number to a single object when counting), a secure counting sequence and an understanding of quantity (recognising that 5 is more than 3, for example).
If these foundations aren't solid, number bonds won't stick, no matter how much a child practises.
Once we identify the gap through a diagnostic assessment, we build a tailored learning plan that starts at the foundational skill and works up from there.
